For me, he was a real life mythical urban legend. I wasn't sure when I heard about him if he was a real.
By real I mean I didn't believe their we're people left on this earth with no hidden agenda.
Thanks to the Internet I was able to see him speak in running shoe stores and at Google. I couldn't believe his pure sincerity, I thought this guy can't be for real.
Here was a guy doing things for "no good reason" just because... things needed to get done.
If you check him out on the Web you will interpret him one of 2ways.
1-he is a nutcase or 2-you'll get it.
I get it, he wanted to help save, arguably, the last running culture alive on earth and spread the simple message of peace.
I had an opportunity to do his race last March but I couldn't make it happen.
I felt a real sense of urgency to show up on the start line of Caballo's race and run with him and the Running people before they disappear.
I was disappointed, but figured, one day I would get there.
He is dead and I think his race and his message has died with him.
Some people will say he should have told someone what trail he was running but that would have taken something away from his run.
The freedom to just run no explanation required.
